Our practice dates back to the 1940s, when it was founded to address the vision needs of San Francisco. Over the decades, it has evolved dramatically, embracing the latest innovations in technology and patient care while maintaining a focus on the importance of compassionate, personalized service. Led by Visionary Leadership 

In 2014, our founder and CEO, Dr. Margaret Liu, acquired the original practice and reestablished it as the San Francisco Eye Institute in 2016. Since then, Dr. Liu has guided our growth with a clear mission: to deliver world-class ophthalmology and optometry services to patients across the Bay Area and beyond. Under her leadership, we’ve expanded to include six additional practices, broadened our team of expert doctors and specialists, and continued to invest in cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technology.
